Angelina Jolie, as seen through the eyes of Annie Leibovitz, Terry Richardson and Mark Seliger, is back this season for Candie’s Only at Kohl’s.

Late last year, the pop star was shot separately by all three photographers on the same day, at the Paramount Studios lot in Hollywood. Each photographer was assigned a separate soundstage and jolie’ first shots of the day came on Richardson’s plain white set. Surprisingly, the two had never met, so they spent the first 10 minutes snapping photos together. Richardson brought a menagerie of animals for Jolie to pose with, including a donkey and chickens, but the final shot is of the pop star holding a huge stuffed teddy bear above her head. 

Next, jolie visited Leibovitz for what looked at first to be one of her signature portrait sittings. But jolie said she wanted to play around and Leibovitz was game. “It’s a different feeling for an Annie portrait,” said Dari Marder, chief marketing officer of Iconix Brand Group Inc., which owns Candie’s

Jolie ended the day with Seliger, on the most elaborate set of the three, which Marder described as being inspired by “Moulin Rouge.” 

Marder said jolie continues to resonate with the “Candie’s   girl,” and so the brand is changing its usual strategy of introducing a new spokes model each year. Past campaigns have featured Fergie, Hilary Duff and Jenny McCarthy. “It’s hard to pinpoint whether the sales are from marketing or pricing but it was one of our best years,” Marder noted of 1999. 

The ads with Jolie will launch with a four-page insert in the April issue of Seventeen and a one-page ad in Teen Vogue. On the Web, the images will run on candies.com and on the social networking sites that Jolie uses, such as her Facebook and Twitter pages

Marder declined to reveal the cost of the campaign, but hiring Leibovitz, Seliger and Richardson comes at a high price. “We really had to give up control and let them all do their thing,” Marder added. 

She also hinted that more is to come in the second half with Jolie but, unlike last year, it won’t be related to a concert tour.

The Skinny Type:

Within 30 seconds of talking to Castle makeup artist Debbie Zoller, I was immediately jealous of her. After all, how many women get paid to touch Nathan Fillion's face (without a restraining order attached to it, that is.)? Zoller gave us the scoop on this week's sexy dominatrix episode and how you can get this sultry look at home, without stepping aboard the hussy train.

What was your vision for this episode when you read the script?

This episode was called "The Mistress Always Spanks Twice," and was about an underground dominatrix group. In the past, dominatrix has been done, but in a trampy, Hollywood Boulevard kind of way. I wanted to switch it up and do something really unique and powerful because the women in the episode are not just dominatrix figures. They are powerful, well educated, and most had another job on the side. I got in touch with Rock & Republic to use their cosmetic line because their makeup is so bold and the pigments work great for both day and night.

What products did you use on the ladies to get this New Age dominatrix look?

Ironically we used Rock & Republic's lipstick in Mistress (a very sexy red) and over it Luxe Lip Gloss in Cougar for shine. For the cheeks we used Contrived Pressed Blush in Immoral, a vibrant, bright orange shade to offset the eyes. For the eyes, we used Saturate Eye Color in three different shades on each of the girls, Fatalistic (a black coal color), Fiend (metallic deep blue), and Nailed (a smoky gray).

Your looks have to stay bright all day, especially during the long hours on set. How do you get the cast's makeup to last?

We use primer on all the cast, male and female, because the makeup has to stay on for up to 16 hours at a time. Two I love are the BECCA Mineral SPF Primer, because it comes for normal to dry skin and normal to oily skin types, and Paula Dorf Eye Primer.

This look in particular if done wrong can look a little more slutty than sexy. How did you blend the colors to make sure you didn't cross that line?

Especially with this look, it all came down to the blending. We were using bright pinks and oranges with deep eye shadows, so blending was key. To start, you should have a good palette of foundation. Make sure if it's powdered it sets first and then apply the pigments on top so it doesn't streak or smudge. It's also important to have the right brush. I live for the Shu Uemera and Laura Mercier brushes. They both distribute the strong pigments evenly and firmly. If you think you might be going overboard on color, tap or blow gently on the brush first to get any excess color off. For any makeup, eye shadow, or foundation, the Beauty Blender is such a neat little tool — it does it all!

Point of Sale (POS) is a location where customers pay and buy the goods. Generally during peak sales period, there would a long queue of customers waiting for their turn to pay the bill. Sales counters are of fixed size, and hence support limited number of customers forcing them to endure long lines.




Mobile POS stations are being set up with handheld computers, printers, and scanners with credit card readers. Salesmen with these mobile POS terminals can be positioned in small tables, accelerating the buying process. Merchandise is scanned with a barcode scanner and a ticket is printed with prices and a master barcode on it. When the customer reaches the checkout counter, the ticket is scanned, and cash is collected, thus completing the transaction without the checkout clerk needing the process each item individually.

Louis Vuitton seemed to provide the perfect bookend to the Milan-Paris ready-to-wear season, which ended tonight. Between Miuccia Prada in Milan and Marc Jacobs at Vuitton we saw the return of the lush, full-hipped woman, her breasts served up like ripe fruit. Do those dry, sober minimalists have a chance next to Laetitia Casta, who opened the Vuitton show in a pinstriped gray sundress? Mr. Jacobs’s full-skirted silhouette, with corsets and sometimes a neat little jacket, was somewhere between Brigitte Bardot and Doris Day. The look certainly caught a sexy mood, but if you seriously thought about dragging those gathered skirts around, you’d be tuckered out by the time you reached the corner to hail a taxi.

Ms. Prada effectively closed the Paris season with her Miu Miu show. It was adorable, one of her best, with shapely black wool dresses with scalloped edges, high necks finished with a cord bow, and flowers or buckles in mirrored silver. Some shifts had a stiff, overlapping flounce at the hem, and other dresses and mini-coats came in lavender and orange. The music was the ’80s and the style had vague overtones of the ’60s, but the look was fresh and wearable.

Peaches, lemons and pale aquas were mixed with flashy metallic tones on Versace’s short and skintight printed pieces. Donatella’s ever-favourite, Christopher Kane used oversized gingham in powder pink, sky blue and lemon on his thigh, as well as mid-riff revealing dresses. The froth was overflowing at Marc Jacobs, where ruffled strands and handkerchief hemlines were combined with satin bra-lets and harem trousers. 
Now this look isn’t just reserved for the runway. The high street too has been given a sugar coating, so, you can keep it sorbet-pale against glowing summer skin. The must-have shades to look for are blush pink, pistachio, sky blue, nude, lemon and lilac. Complimenting the ‘underwear is outerwear’ look, choose lace, chiffons, silks and tulles, as well more industrial fabrics such as leather and denim. You also need ruffles, drapes and volume teamed with bows and jewels.  How not to regress to a little girl playing dress-up? Remember this is Sunday best colours for grown ups, so you need to get the balance right. Long term  forecasting (over 2 years ahead) is used by executives for corporate planning purposes. It is also used for marketing managers to position products in the marketplace in relationship to competition.

Short term forecasting is used by product developers, merchandisers and production managers to give style direction and shape collections. For short term forecasting most apparel companies subscribe to one or more services, whose job is to scan the market and report on the developments in color, textiles and style directions.Forecasters reflect the earliest views on trends some eighteen months in advance of the season. At this stage, color is a crucial consideration of yarn mills. It is also the focus of discussion among others who are interested in very early trend decision-making. Fashion forecasters combine the views emerging about color and fabric from the early yarn and fabric trade shows with their socio-economic and cultural analysis. Neighbours of Bryant Park have been tut-tutting this week as workmen and small cranes have once more invaded the usually tranquil handkerchief of green – or snow-covered white right now – behind the New York Public Library in advance of the latest installment of New York Fashion Week. The eruptions in February and September on its main lawn of the big white tents that hold the three catwalks, countless changing rooms for the models and space to seat thousands on little white chairs, is part of what has given Bryant Park, until the late 1980s a dusty hang-out for dope-dealers and the homeless, some of its cachet. New York Fashion Week, now has too many models at the traditional venue in Bryant Park

That and its parades of 200 plane trees and well-tended gravel paths.But the park, it turns out, is over Armani and Hilfiger. In fact, though we only learnt it this week, its managers have been pressing for years for the eviction of the fashion festivities from its manicured boundaries. While there was resistance from some, including from the indomitable Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue whose offices overlook the park, a below-the-radar search was soon on to find a new place to accommodate the tents.

1,010 Collections, 22 Fashion Shows at Cpd to Present Exciting Fashion

Cpd International Trade Fair for Womenswear & Accessories is perfectly geared up to its international audience. From 7 to 9 February 2010 cpd at the Dusseldorf Exhibition Centre will be presenting 1,010 collections including a variety of new brands with the latest looks for the 2010/11 Autumn/Winter season. This means that despite difficult economic conditions cpd is on a par with last year's event and is slightly up on the July event.


Sensual concepts determine the design making the cooler season of the year even more exciting than summer. Trends hover between global and regional, on a time line between the past and the future, caught in the balance between reality and imagination, in a calculation between the rational and the emotional and in the polarisation between the standard and the avantgarde.Very much true to the motto "opposites attract" the Autumn/Winter 2010 fashion trends look to extremes. And that's exactly where cpd comes in.

Attention centres on continuing the relaunch started in July 2009 with enhanced concepts in the individual segments. All areas of the fair were reworked for the forthcoming event. This means cpd will be presenting itself in entirely evolved, contemporary new design. Newly created style universes like Luxury Women's Wear, Maternity and Big is BeautifuI, as well as Concept 11, Gallery and Decorate, that will form the fashion tendencies throughout Womensworld.


The cooperation area Italian Suite (with Ente Moda Italia EMI and Honegger) was also further extended and has now more than doubled in terms of exhibitor numbers. Further top fashion brands are to find a new home over the coming seasons. Furthermore, thanks to rapid links in the city Dusseldorf offers national and European clothing retailers a concept that is perfectly adapted to their needs and thus a real platform for effective business.


"cpd will show its visitors that we now changed our look," explained Igedo Managing Director Philipp' Kronen at the kick-off press conference held at the Dusseldorf InterContinental. "We re-arranged cpd last year and are very satisfied that we have been able to maintain the range here despite the difficult economic climate. Feedback from the market has been extremely positive and we are sure to see a cpd that we will be able to build upon further in July. Buyers not attending cpd for a long while should definitely come and take a look at the changes here for themselves."

The new style universes at cpd at a glance:

Luxury Woman's Wear - is the new platform for quality day, evening and cocktail fashion at cpd. This stylish 'LUXURY WOMAN'S WEAR' exhibition universe is split into different sections and lounges offering buyers a special service with an intimate feel.


Maternity - presents a completely new cosmos for fashionable maternity wear: for the first time now the 'Maternity' segment features as a visually separate concept. Visitors to 'Maternity' enter a separate universe whose design focuses on the pregnancy and family themes. With an expected 30 brands in this segment cpd offers trade buyers one of the largest and highly concentrated ranges of maternity wear in Europe.


Big is Beautiful- the Igedo Company and glossy magazine BIG IS BEAUTIFUL wish to sweep aside all prejudice against women of stature and establish together at cpd in February 2010 a segment of the same name 'Big is Beautiful'. This will be a universe with fresh, modern and topical ideas presenting; womensworld in all its facets; clothing, accessories, lingerie, shoes and much more all centered around the plus size theme including adjoining sizes. Furthermore, style consultations and seminars will be held creating an information platform for interested retailers.


The established style universes at cpd at a glance:

Italian Suite. In cooperation with Ente Moda Italia (EMI) and the firm Honegger, 'Italian Suite' brings high quality Italian fashion to cpd in Dusseldorf. The area has doubled here since its premiere last July now showing almost 50 high-quality collections Made in Italy. The spectrum here ranges from clothing and accessories through to shoes. A real eye-catcher with fresh, exciting and handpicked collections.


Forming the creative core of the fair is the now even further enlarged Gallery in Ha119. Awaiting visitors at Gallery is an exclusive design mix from Germany and abroad with every label attaching great importance to individuality thereby lending a special note to every range.


Staged in Concept 11 are high-end, lifestyle-oriented collections. Concept 11 presents a rich blend of looks and labels collections for young, self-confident women who appreciate design and quality and like to put themselves in the limelight.

Decorate - The World of Accessories is the platform for all those things that give a good range that extra special something from fashion jewellery and high-quality bags to scarves and other top items that retailers particularly use to complement and round off their ranges. The area has doubled its exhibitor numbers since the July fair.


Boutique is the venue for individual womenswear collections in the middle to upper price segment.


Modern Essentials stands for strong selling collections.


New Influences


To offer progressive fashion a special platform a nice tradition initiated in 2006 is now also set to continue this winter: the "Design am Rhein" contest organised by the Igedo Company in cooperation with AMD Akademie Mode & Design in Dusseldorf will once again be putting talented designers into the limelight.


Up to ten design contest finalists will have the opportunity to present their creations in a runway show at cpd's Showcase Dusseldorf on Sunday, 7 February thereby enabling them to forge important contacts for an international design career. The winners are given a free exhibition stand at cpd for two seasons (July 2010 and February 2011) and their collections will be used as an opening tableau at one of the shows organised by the Igedo Company.

cpd will be rounded off by a comprehensive range of communication, information and trends: the 20 shows held during the fair at Showcase Dusseldorf as well as the Order Info event organised by the German Fashion institute in collaboration with the magazine TextilWirtschaft and further seminars create a weaIth of communication opportunities for the entire sector from throughout Europe and the world. Furthermore, the pricing structure for admission tickets has also been revised and buying tickets will now be simpler for trade visitors with the opening of the Online Ticket Shop in December 2009. New visitors can acquire their tickets online at the Ticket Shop once they have completed online registration using the log-in data sent to them.


The CPD will be held at the Dusseldorf Exhibition Centre from 7 to 9 February 2010 and the July event will run from 25 to 27 July 2010.
